21 February 2023. Mardi Gras day. I didn’t get out for much of Mardi Gras this year. Just didn’t feel like dealing with it all really. I did get out on Mardi Gras day and walked through the French Quarter for a couple of hours. Mardi Gras feels like it should be street photography Christmas, there was definitely no lack of pictures to be taken, but I found myself looking for quieter moments after a while.

I found myself mostly interested in faces on this day, so you may notice that I took a lot of pictures of faces that I found interesting for one reason or another. Also the aspect ratio is purposeful. You may notice from the header that I was going for a “cinematic” feel with the edit and everything. I don’t know if I hit it or not, but at this moment it feels fine. I think that this may be the style I shoot in for bit in the near future, so today was basically a practice run. It’s a bit more challenging but I like the change up of things. I don’t think these horizontal pictures are good for Instagram but that’s fine. Instagram isn’t good for me anyway.

All in all it didn’t feel too bad out there. The crowds felt very manageable, the weather was perfect, and everyone seemed pretty chill. Anyway, here are my photos from my little walk on this Mardi Gras day.
